Satine is an exhibition space active since 2025 at number 3909 in San Marco, on Calle dei Avvocati, near Campo Sant'Angelo.
Directed by Silvia Cipriani and Camilla Pagliano, it operates as a place of research dedicated to contemporary practices, with particular attention to female voices, alternating art and designer objects in a programme of just a few exhibitions a year, each curated as a project specific to the space.
From 7 March 2026 the gallery hosts "Bugie", a solo exhibition by Valentina Cameranesi Sgroi, accompanied by a text by Anna Franceschini.
Cameranesi Sgroi, born in Rome and based in Milan, moves between product design, set design and creative direction.
Since 2012 she has led the studio Cameranesi/Pompili with Enrico Pompili, combining commissioned work with a personal research into the relationship between the artificial and the natural, and into the persistence of forms and objects in collective memory, particularly in vernacular decoration.
She works with photography, video and ceramics, and collaborates regularly with master craftsmen in glass and metal.
The exhibition is built around the theme declared by its title: domestic deception, the decorative lie.
The opening piece is a gate-screen of Melottian memory, born of a double material trompe-l'œil.
Folded cardboard that becomes copperwork; copper that, in its folding, in turn imitates card.
Around it gravitate small, deliberately unstable objects prototypes more than finished things such as little boxes that conceal stencils and let viscose ribbons hang loose, reminiscent of the tassels of the Wiener Werkstätte but now declaredly useless; copper side tables with galvanised legs and enamelled tops, where the firing retains the faded imprint of a silk foulard; and a soft wall-mounted coat rack laden with ribbons, bows and a red garter.
The repertoire evoked is that of the domestic vernacular and its ambiguous sweetnesses — Laura Ashley's wallpapers, Martha Stewart's aesthetic, Mario Buatta's floral chintz reread as the reverse side of the postmodern.
The "bugie" of the title are at once the tricks of the materials, the fictions of furnishing and the masks of carnival, recalled in the exhibition's farewell by the melancholy souvenir of Viareggio.
